The best burrata in the world comes from Puglia. More precisely, Noci and Putignano. In first place in the American World Championship Cheese contest, in the section dedicated to burrata, was the Noce-based company Deliziosa (Delizia Spa), while the Artigiana dairy from Putignana placed second. Two distinct realities, but under the leadership of the same family: the brothers Giovanni and Francesco D'Ambruoso. A family, corporate, territorial and Italian success that has reached the United States, in particular Wisconsin. The World championship cheese contest is the largest international competition in the dairy sector and perhaps one of the oldest. The first edition dates back, in fact, to 1957 and since then it has been reorganized continuously every two years. In 2024 it was held from 5 to 7 March and saw the participation of three thousand competing dairy products from all over the world.
Among these, in the burrata category, those produced by the D'Ambruoso brothers stood out and for some time now can boast an innumerable amount of world, European and national recognition. «It is an enormous satisfaction for our company, for all the people who work with me and also for Puglia – says Giovanni D'Ambruoso, founder of the winning company Delizia Spa -. Our burrata is the best in the world because it is a rigorously handmade product, using traditional production methods. This recognition is a confirmation of the fact that our burrata is of high quality, genuine and excellent in taste." Deliziosa and Artigiana - who participated in the World championship cheese contest with the Italian national cheese team CheeseItaly - are now just waiting to be called up to collect the prize. «We are infinitely proud of this result – says Grazia D'Ambruoso, marketing manager of Artigiana and daughter of the founders Francesco D'Ambruoso and Maria Amodio -. Burrata is now a fashionable and iconic product in our basket considering the countless awards it has obtained . It is highly appreciated in America and Asia, followed by mature cheeses such as Occhio di Puglia. Seeing our burrata reach the podium immediately after my uncle's, a first and second place with the same surname, can only be an honor. My grandfather said in this regard: good blood doesn't lie."
